There is definitely no comparison between Bailey and Love vs. Washington's manual of surgery. Both books have a completely different purpose.

Purpose of reading Bailey and Love Surgery
- Master textbook followed by most of the competitive exams, so it is a must read if you are aiming for NEET PG preparation, MRCS preparation and NEET superspecialty preparation
- It covers all topics very well and is easy to read and understand. It is a good book for concept building
- Most MCQs from general surgery coming in competitive exams are made from Bailey and Love
- Even after joining MS General surgery, Bailey and Love is very useful
Purpose of reading Washington's Manual of Surgery
- Washington's manual of surgery is a review book with current guidelines, it assumes that you are already clear with your concepts of general surgery. So it just gives you a path to manage a specific clinical condition.
- It is a good book to be used as a "pocket manual" while in general surgery postings or rotations to quickly review theoretical information and clinical guidelines regarding a particular case.
