Value of MRCS in India

 

Sir, 

Do u think there is any value of doing MRCS???

If one doesn't want to go to uk ???

I dont think I want to settle in uk.

Should I still write MRCS ???

For practical purposes, it only gets your name in the GMC register. NHS needs doctors from overseas to fill certain jobs which are not taken up by local graduates as they do not lead to a consultant post. These are called trust grade jobs or non-training jobs. Few from this cadre may get training jobs leading to CCT, which is a must for becoming a consultant. 

So MRCS is a basic exam that gives you eligibility to start work in NHS at the junior level.

In India, MRCS is just a post-nominal to show off that you have a foreign degree. There is no difference in packages and seniority of MRCS vs Non-MRCS doctors in both corporate and government hospitals.

MRCS has no value after MBBS, as it will not fetch you a job and won't have any academic or "show-off" value as you are not a surgeon. The academic and "show-off" value of MRCS in India exists only if you have MS or DNB General Surgery degree. 

But if you want to practice outside India, it adds lots of value to your CV. In the middle east, for example, MRCS doctors are preferred and given higher packages as well as seniority.
